Are they comfortable bed-fellows or feuding odd-fellows? All the water flowing out of the Black Hills this spring has made some good paddling! It has also raised the potential for tragedy and strained relations between paddlers and non-paddlers. With the recent overnight thunderstorms, some of that good paddling might be back again! PLEASE! Whether you are grizzled old “Creeker” or a brand-new paddler; ENGAGE YOUR BRAIN before paddling!

Black Hills Paddlers is growing! We've had great support from the community and are excited about all the people participating. Want to show your spirit? Want to tell everyone you are a boater and a member?
Its easy to do, buy a sticker , get a Tshirt ! Click here to go to our online CafePress store. We have a couple of products up right now and more designs are coming! All proceeds go directly to supporting the WhiteWater Park and the site. If you were one of the lucky first to join the site, then your free sticker is here! Email Justin or use the contact form to send in your address and I will drop them in the mail to you. Better yet go boating with Justin, Paulette, Kelly, Jake, or Rochelle and get your sticker in person. THANKS FOR PADDLING! Check out the "Have You Hugged Your Kayak Today " gear as well. A young member of our group, Scott Nelson and a variety of friends have done all of Box Elder creek from Nemo to RC! Box Elder creek has not been paddleable for years! Scott paddled part of it before the last high water and finished it up today. I think Scott actually qualifies for first descent on parts of the creek! According to Scott, Box Elder Creek is different but almost easier than Spearfish Creek (Scott paddled Spearfish Creek at 150 cfs). He says it has a lot of barbed wire but a very friendly landowner below nemo is willing to work with us to get that rerouted/removed/replaced so it is more boater friendly. Box Elder creek is getting pretty bony down now, so its season is getting pretty well done. Let me know if you want to talk to Scott for more info. REMEMBER: NEVER paddle new water without carefully scourting! And NEVER alone! If it is uncomfortable to be on it, GET OFF! Ego is a poor trade for your life! |
